Corporate identity (CI) refers to the overall image that a company or organisation conveys to the public. It encompasses the corporate philosophy, goals and visions, values, mission and corporate culture as well as the way in which a company or organisation communicates with its customers and the public.
Corporate identity therefore goes beyond the visual appearance and describes the self-image and character of a company or organisation. It is an important factor for the success of a company, as it can help to promote the trust and loyalty of customers and interested parties and improve the image of the company.
Corporate identity is often confused with corporate design, which refers exclusively to the visual appearance. Although corporate design is an important part of corporate identity, it is important to emphasise that corporate identity goes beyond this and also encompasses the non-visual aspects of a company or organisation.
